What is Silestone?

It is essentially a material that is commonly used for kitchen worktops, bathrooms and even floors and wall cladding. It is known to be incredibly durable, hard-wearing and resilient and this is thanks to the 90% natural quartz crystals that are part of their make up. It looks much like granite and marble, however, the quartz crystals give it a much more sparkly look that shines much brighter than the other more natural based worktop materials.

How is Silestone made?

As we have already covered, a high percentage of the materials in this stone is natural quartz crystals. Aside from this, there is also polyester resin, colouring agents and also antimicrobial protection too. It is the polyester resin that binds the entire mixture together and creates the popular Silestone surface.

How to clean Silestone countertops?

If you have a Silestone worktop then you are going to want to make sure that it is clean and looking its best as much as you can. The good news is that Silestone is incredibly durable and hard-wearing, it is also stain resistant, which helps to ensure that it stays looking clean even when it is used on a regular basis.

That said, you are going to need to clean your worktop from time to time. The good news is that you do not need a specialist cleaner in order to clean your Silestone countertops, a gentle detergent should be enough to take away the stains and keep it looking fresh. You should also avoid scrubbing it or using anything too abrasive or strong such as bleach, however, you should find that you don’t need too much elbow power to get it looking clean and clear.

Which is better Silestone or quartz?

Considering whether Silestone Worktops or Quartz worktops are the best for your kitchen? If this is true for you then you are going to want to know what makes Silestone kitchen worktops such a great addition to your kitchen. Really, there is no difference between Silestone and Quartz as they are both made from Quartz and therefore have many of the same properties.

That said, as Silestone contains other materials which are added during the manufacturing process, you are likely to find that it has the benefits of these materials as well as the Quartz too.

If you are planning on changing your kitchen worktops, then it may be worthwhile considering Silestone as your choice. Not only perfect in design and look, it is also hard-wearing and durable too, everything that you are going to want for your kitchen.
