Stone Tips

Stone is a natural material and as such comes with natural variations in colour and markings. Because of this, our samples must not be considered as anything other than being broadly representative of the material of the same name. This is an important consideration to bear in mind when making your decision on which stone to choose.

All Carrara's stone products are treated with "Lithofin" sealant before dispatch. The sealent, which is silicone based, impregnates the surface of the material and thereby protects it from liquids and prevents it from staining.

This is especially important with honed (matt), flame textured or bush hammered surfaces which are less durable, as the stone is not protected by a polished surface and is therefore more susceptible to staining and particularly the absorption of oils, water and alcohol.

Granite, marble and limestone surfaces need to be properly maintained. They should be cleaned, resealed and waxed on a regular basis, depending on the type of stone. We recommend using "Lithofin" or a similar range of product for stone impregnation and maintenance.
